In vitro antioxidant and apoptotic activity of Lablab purpureus (L.) Sweet isolate and hydrolysates

Cancer is a disease that invades the lives of millions people each year. Chemotherapy currently most effective treatment however resulting in many adverse effects to human body. Alternative treatments are being explored overcome this obstacle. Peptides possess radical scavenging activity and bioactive properties can be advantageous prevention chronic diseases. In study, Lablab purpureus isolate its hydrolysates (trypsin, pepsin alcalase) were analysed for potential (DPPH, ABTS, superoxide FRAP) antiproliferative activity. Antiproliferative was confirmed with peptides ability induce apoptosis (Caspase 3/7 Annexin V-PI). The lowest inhibitory concentrations (IC50) DPPH, ABTS Superoxide ranged between 1.81-4.47, 1.73-2.42 1.36-4.41 mg/mL, respectively. FRAP from 19.20 21.94 mg/mL. Generally, it considered good antioxidant encompasses potential.
